Literature Text
Passionless saints tie our lips together
and I crush our voice in my hands
Lift the nape of your neck
and breathe you in, hush
(you fill the air).
Godless gospels
pass through us
while the night stumbles
gently on
You dream in a dark
wine sea
and I drift helplessly
after
finding words at midnights
to memorise for you
only to keep them locked secretly
with love on my tongue.
You are my love letter
curling naked in the heat
your spine beautiful and bare
as our unlaced feet.
Our shadows touch
a leaf falls on itself.
pink dusk spreads across the sky
farewelling the dark storm
of your hair across the sleepy pillow.
The sound of you breathing
echoes in my chest.
I collapse you in my lungs
like a script
madness takes us with love
and holds us close.
A whisper into the coming sun,
flowers of colour
that melt soft over the sky
like the blush of you
And I
drift
helplessly after
and I crush our voice in my hands
Lift the nape of your neck
and breathe you in, hush
(you fill the air).

A Love Poem
You made me smile and laugh
You made me want to be better
To run farther,
To love harder
You made me love to fall
I wanted to be the one to hold you
I want to tell you I love you
I want to kiss you in the rain
Sometimes it burns
Every time I think of you
The pain, the boredom they stop
And suddenly I'd be content to lie still for awhile
If only I could feel your heart against mine.
I'm not a good person,
And this isn't a good poem,
I don't always speak the truth,
But this time it's true:
I love you.

The Day After Valentine's Day
Your memory is rooted far and wide
in the Californian soil.
It rides on the 490 bus route,
every afternoon at 2:45pm
or at 3:25 if we were running late.
It's down the block at the corner deli,
draped in the layers of lunchtime aromas
and wearing that green apron you hated
but when I look, it isn't your smiling face.
It's in the streets of Chinatown,
in the maze-like tourist traps.
We would get lost anyway
underneath the red paper lamps.
It's in a hotel room in San Francisco,
holding hands underneath the bedcovers.
It's in the carved initials at the boardwalk,
a permanent reminder that two people
once imagined a future together.

wise heart
You told me the story of that tattoo with you and your old lover's names and how your new one would dig her nails deep into the name away until you bled, every chance she could get, angry and jealous because you believed in forever.
'what a shame forever shatters so easily...'
I could see a hint of sadness in your eyes when you talked about her.
thinking back now, it was such a beautiful story that I couldn't appreciate until now, and you will always be one of the wisest, kindest people I have ever interacted with. I hope you are well, old friend.
Maybe I'll see you again soon...

A poem I've written for my girlfriend, for Valentines Day.
the love letter that goes with it:
the love letter that goes with it:
Valentines Day Love Letter-Poem I am yours for all and everything.
You remake me whole and unwhole and unbending,
and I can give you only this letter that I lay my head on
and press to my lips, my chest that floods for you,
my little fish.
You are a wishbone that I wish upon,
when the beautiful curve of your hips sings
beside mine in the dark like a cello,
as we travel through the night on your faint breath.
Your beauty surrounds me and I whisper to the wood,
the rain falling softly in the dark of you.
And I could never deserve you.
Instead, my little love –
you have a poem and a love letter
and my heart.
